A '4 Element Photo' just selected as an Editor's Favorite in the 2019 National Geographi
So very cool to have had one of my travel photos just selected as an Editor's Favorite in the 2019 National Geographic Travel Photo Contest that is currently running. My photo "Cappadocia Lights" can be seen in the Cities category in Week 7. This photo was taken in one of my favorite places I have traveled to, a city called Goreme, in the Cappadocia region in central Turkey.
I am very happy that my travel photography is getting noticed because travel is such an integral part of my life. Travelling to other countries, seeing and being part of new cultures opens your eyes and ultimately your mind and for me it has truly become addictive and has honestly shaped who I am and how I see the world today.

We here in North America have so much, yet we seem to complain non-stop, never fully satisfied, always wanting more. When travelling to places where people may possess less, earn less, and ultimately have less, you see a mentality that shifts away from placing such importance on trivial possessions. Instead, you start to see the best in humanity, where people help each other, care about their immediate environment and wear genuine smiles on their faces. This is the most important thing I have taken away from travel, to let go of stuff and focus more on what is really important - experiences over possessions.
Thanks to the editors at Nat Geo and here's hoping my photo continues on in the competition.
